E-Business is a critical and pervasive feature of Polytechnic's Management of Technology [MOT] and Information Management [IM] Executive programs, which are located in the heart of New York City's E-Business community in Silicon Alley.A key assumption underlying the design of the MOT and IM programs is that E-Business is now an important element of technology, innovation and information management. Indeed, E-Business is also transforming the management of modern firms, large or small, established or new. We strongly believe that high-technology managers from all sectors and kinds of firms--brick-and-mortar-based companies, telecommunications and networking firms, services, purely online firms and others--now require a sophisticated and state-of-the-art competency in E-business. Moreover, Polytechnic's Department of Technology Management and its Institute for Technology and Enterprise are leading research and learning hubs committed to E-Business management. The resulting original research generated and knowledge gained continually inform the MOT and IM programs, helping to make them pacesetters in E-Business executive education. We are determined to deliver to every MOT and IM student an education that is at the cutting edge in E-Business. The new managerial imperatives for effective digital-based innovation and E-business prowess--such as exploiting speed, managing volatility, utilizing instantaneous feedback by customers and others, and practicing effective entrepreneurial decision making--are emphasized throughout both programs. MOT and IM courses in such fields as Marketing, Innovation, Information and Networking Technology, Operations Management, Economics, and others explicitly incorporate E-Business topics. All MOT and IM students are also required to take recently developed courses, such as New Frontiers in Electronic Business, that address the major issues managers confront in the E-business world. THE NEW E-BUSINESS TRACK IN THE MOT AND IM PROGRAMS Starting with the Summer of 2000, we are proudly introducing an exciting E-Business Track for MOT and IM students who wish to concentrate in E-Business. Choosing this Track requires the completion of a final project dealing specifically with an important topic in the E-business arena as part of the Capstone course in the final semester. This Track is open to all MOT and IM students. Please note that those MOT students already participating in the MOTIFS and MOTIR Tracks can also choose to be concurrently in our new E-Business Track.
